Gerstein Centre Crisis Line

Crisis intervention including phone line, mobile unit, ten-bed stay crisis House, and hospital referral. Staff provides supportive counselling for immediate crisis issues, and referrals to other services for ongoing, non-crisis issues. Serves people in the City of Toronto.

The Integrated Community Mental Health Crisis Response Program 

A 24-hour crisis line, seven day/week mobile crisis service for Etobicoke and North York, provides links to emergency/respite housing. Support available in the consumer’s home or at a meeting place of their choice. Telephone access and support given to family members, significant others, and caregivers.

Confidential telephone service providing crisis counselling, emotional support, safety planning, and information and referrals for emergency shelters, counselling legal services and other community services.

Centre for Addiction & Mental Health – Addiction Research Site 

Provides information, and individual and group treatment for those dealing with drug and/or alcohol problems.

Individual and group therapy for Anxiety Disorders and Obsessive Compulsive disorders. GP referral required.

Counselling and Psychoeducational Clinic at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto

The Clinical Child Psychology (SCCP) program provides assessment and intervention services to children and adolescents. The Counselling Psychology program provides counselling services to adults. Flexible payment plans and sliding fee scale are offered for services not covered by extended health plan.

Families in Transition (FIT) 

Affiliated with Family Services Toronto. Provides specialized services for separating, divorcing and remarrying families that focus on supporting children. Fees for interviews are based on sliding scale, and fees for workshops are based on the time involved in each program. The cost of materials and handouts is normally included in the fee.

Provides medical treatment and psychological support to victims of domestic violence or sexual assault.

Support programs and group services for those with eating disorders and related issues, their families and caregivers. No referral needed. No fee required.

Distress Centres of Toronto – Survivor Support Programme 

Counselling support for individuals and families, provided by trained and supervised volunteer teams. Services include assessments and referrals, home visits, follow-ups as required (including group-setting follow-ups), consultation workshops, printed materials, the Suicide Resource Centre lending library, etc.

Women Recovering from Abuse Program (WRAP) 

Offers group therapy and individual counselling to women who have experienced abuse, who suffer from mental health problems, and who have sought traditional forms of psychiatric treatment in the past. Accepts self-referrals, as well as referrals from health-care professionals.

Bay Centre for Birth Control 

Provides contraceptive health care, reproductive health care, abortion, and sexual health care, as well as services related to Hepatitis B and HIV (i.e. testing, counselling).
